Boston Bruins likely to feel absence of forward Rich Peverley out for six weeks due to knee injury –NHL News
The Boston Bruins have suffered a serious blow in form of an injury to their forward, Rich Peverley, which is expected to force the player out of the side for a month minimum.
Bruins confirmed on Friday, February 17, 2012, that the forward had been inflected on a
medial collateral ligament (MCL) sprain in his right knee, which will require him about a month and half to recover.
It is certain that the player will be out from the team nursing his injuring next couple of months and to fill his absence the team has moved Daniel Paille to the third line.
"It's unfortunate," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "He logs a lot of minutes during the game. With [Nathan] Horton out already, those are two guys that play a lot of minutes for us. It's going to be a challenge for us. That's just part of the game."
The coach did not throw a light on the possibility of his team suffering in the absence of the forward that how much it will affect their game.
Concerns have been voiced by his teammates, who said that the player’s absence will make them to adapt to the new setup.
"I think we've been there before many times and we have good depth," centre, David Krejci said. "It's not a good situation when one of your good players goes down, and now we have Horty [Horton] and him. But we gotta battle through it and I'm sure those
two guys will be back soon."
The player’s injury came as a result of a knee-to-knee collision with the Montreal Canadiens player, Hal Gill, in their game on Wednesday, which they won by the score of four to three goals in the shootout stage.
He was immediately benched on the sidelines and could not make it to the squad again for rest of the game.
Earlier his injury was not considered to be of a serious nature as the results of his latest results were waited, and it is being confirmed that the injury will require him atleast four to six weeks to heal.
Peverley does not have an option other than wait for his recovery and rehab before staging a comeback this season, as his team in the meantime attempts to find solutions at his position.
He did not join his team to Winnipeg on Thursday and instead went to Boston for further checkups of his knee. Bruins are almost in the middle of a road trip for six games.
Following confirmation of the move of Daniel Paille to the third line, they have added Jordan Caron and Chris Kelly along with him. Further, they have moved David Krejci and Milan Lucic on to the wing side.
