Boston Bruins look to bounce back in Game 3 against Vancouver Canucks –NHL Stanley Cup Final Preview
Boston Bruins is all set to make a recovery in the next two games of the 2011 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals which will be played at the TD Centre in Boston, Massachusetts, against Vancouver Canucks, the first one on Monday, June 6th.
Vancouver took a 2-0 lead in the potential seven-game series after they defeated the Eastern Conference champs twice at the Rogers Arena and will now be headed to Bruins’ stadium for Game 3.
Boston will have a huge advantage in the upcoming games since their crowd is known to be the rowdiest in the league.
The Stanley Cup Finals series which has proved to be not an offensive but rather a defensive factored series will rely on veteran goaltenders from both sides, Roberto Luongo (Vancouver) and Tim Thomas (Boston).
Luongo has really changed his reputation in the eyes of the fans in a good way. He was known as a choker in the previous three series in which he remained tensed and at times avoided the media after a few embarrassing matchups.
Luongo has proved that he is not a choker but can rather handle stress and pressure filled situations quite well.
Canucks will definitely have an advantage from the offensive point of view since a majority of their players have shown spectacular performances in the series at the most crucial moments. Raffi Torres made the game winning goal in the first game while Alex
Burrows emerged as a saviour for the Presidents’ Trophy winners when he nailed the second fastest overtime game winning goal in NHL Playoffs history.
Burrows might be confident, but he certainly is not overconfident.
"We haven't won anything yet", Burrows said Saturday night after winning game two. "It's only two games. We've only taken care of home ice. They're a really good team and I'm sure they're going to feed off the energy from their crowd. We have to make sure
we're ready to go in there. It won't be easy. Until you win a road game, you're not in control of any series".
Manny Malhotra finally made it back into the line-up after much rumours and speculations flying around the hockey world about his condition.
He played for eight minutes and is slowly and gradually on his way to a full recovery which is a major boosting factor for Canucks that are half way through to winning their first ever Stanley Cup.
Bruins, on the other hand, is back in the same situation it was against Montreal Canadiens in game one of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
They bounced back easily against a strong Canadiens’ team to win it in seven games which could also be the case against Vancouver.
"I don't think there's any reason here to not be positive", Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "You don't get this far and all of a sudden hang your head. They had home-ice advantage, won their first two home games. We got to go back home and do the same.
One game at a time, as you hear always. We win the first game, it builds up momentum, and you get yourself back in the series. It's not the end of the world here. We lost the game, but we're a better team than that, and we're a team that's bounced back all
through the season".
Game 3 will surely be an exciting milestone in this series to see if the Bruins can make a comeback and turn the tables around against the striving Canucks. The third game of the Stanley Cup Finals is set to begin on Monday at 8:00 PM ET in Boston.
