Boston Bruins may not have Trio of Defenders in Opener against New York Rangers  -NHL Update
The Boston Bruins may have luckily slid by Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 of the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Quarterfinals, but it definitely will get harder from here on in as they may be without three top level defensemen when they go
up against New York Rangers on Thursday.
Getting the series opener in their hands is something Boston will definitely be looking to do in order to demoralize the New York Rangers and take control of the series, but it just may become an impossible task with such little time left. All three were
also reported to be absent from practice just a day before the series opener is set to begin.
"Maybe we have a different look than we're used to, as far as puck transporting," Bruins General Manager, Peter Chiarelli, said, according to ESPN.com. "Maybe that's a good thing, but that's what we're going to be. We're calling up Torey Krug today to come
along for the ride, so you may see him at a point. Those three D, if they're in the lineup, give us a little different complexion back there."
Andrew Ference, Wade Redden and Dennis Seidenberg are all said to be unavailable for Thursday’s opening matchup and could definitely hurt the team where they needed it the most. Seidenberg is a 31-year-old German native who contributed in 46 games this past
season and potted 17 points (4 goals, 13 assists) with a plus-minus rating of 18.
Redden, a 35-year-old defender played in 29 games and had seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) with 11 minutes in penalty time. Ference was another well known name in the defensive department with 48 games under his belt and 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) along
with 35 minutes in penalty time.
For now, it is still not sure whether all three will be absent, while there are rumors of some being active for tomorrow.
I don't have any updates," Chiarelli added. "[Seidenberg], as you know, played 37 seconds last night and, obviously, is injured. He's been a playoff warrior for us, so if he's not in, we'll miss him.”
