Boston Bruins play host to New York Rangers in the third of four games scheduled between them
The first game of Saturday will be played at the TD Garden as Boston Bruins play host to New York Rangers.
This will be the third out of the four scheduled meetings between the two teams.
Out of the two games that have already taken place during the course of the season, Rangers won the first game 3-2 while Bruins won the second 3-2.
The teams might fell face each other in the first round of the play-offs as Bruins are in the third spot in the Eastern Conference while Rangers are just two points out of the sixth position.
This will be the first game between the two teams after the New Year and is expected to be very entertaining and exciting keeping in the mind the necessity of a win for Rangers who are looking to move ahead of the battle for the play-off cut.
Rangers were going through some good times as they managed to pile up five consecutive wins.
However, in their last game this past Thursday they faced the Ottawa Senators who are recently coming up with a lot of upsets.
This game was no different as the scores were level on 1-1 at the end of regulation time. No goals were scored in overtime but the Senators emerged as 2-1 winners of the game after shootout.
A win while playing in Boston seems difficult but they have won seven of their last nine games in regulation time gives them a lot of chance of further crawling up the standings with a win here.
"I don't want to think about missing a point or winning a point," said goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who made 29 saves, plus four stops in the shootout. "We just have to move on. Hopefully it will be more than enough in the end."
Rangers have played 75 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 40 games in regulation time, five games in overtime to score a total of 85 points.
On the other hand, Bruins have played 73 games during the season out of which they have won 41 games in regulation time, 10 in overtime and scored a total of 92 points.
Bruins faced the Montreal Canadiens in their last game who were looking to for revenge with a win after Bruin’s Zdeno Chara’s hit injured Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty.
However, things turned out to be different and it was Bruins who totally dominated the game and won it 7-0 in the end.
"It wasn't a message; this was a really big game for us," said Boston center David Krejci, who along with Milan Lucic also had 3 assists. "We wanted to come out strong and get the two points. I would be happy if it was 1-0, but it was good to get that big
of a win."
