Boston Bruins play host to the Detroit Red Wings in their first meeting this season
The first game of Friday will take place at the TD Garden as the home team Boston Bruins play host to the Detroit Red Wings. This is the first of the two meetings between the two sides. The second meeting between the two sides will take place on Sunday.
The last time these two met was way back on 3rd November 2009 where Detroit Red Wings came up with a decent performance that saw them winning the game 2-0 in the end.
Goal keeper of the Red Wings, Chris Osgood made 29 saves during the game.
Though the Boston Bruins were going through a tough time in the season and it looked as if they were going to lose the lead in the Northeast Division. However, after the consistent and productive recent performances which saw them winning two of their last
three games raise a few questions as to the fact that are the Boston Bruins back.
These consistent performances have led to the Bruins establishing a four point lead in the Northeast Division. Detroit Red Wings on the other hand have come up with some disappointing results recently and things look even difficult going into the weekend
as they face the inform Bruins twice. Detroit Red Wings have lost three of the last four games which come as a shock to many as they had been a dominating force during the course of the season until the recent few games.
Detroit Red Wings were expected to come up with strong performance against their Centre Divisions in Nashville Predators this Wednesday. Both the teams squared off against each other for the second time and the Red Wings lost the game against this time 4-1.
This was also their third straight loss and second in the week.
Some of the players in the Red Wings have been reported to have said that their performance in the game was totally unacceptable and embarrassing and cut the Red Wings lead in the Division to five points.
"I'm glad they agree with me," Mike Babcock said. "It's absolutely unacceptable to compete like we did. You're not going to be successful in anything in any walk of life working that hard. It's beyond ridiculous. Obviously, we've got tons of work to do.
I thought we were coming out of what we were in, but we're not."
Both teams have played 54 games in the season so far out of which the Red Wings have won 32 games in regulation time, 6 games in overtime and scored 70 points. Boston Bruins on the other hand have won 31 games in regulation time, 7 games in overtime and
scored 69 points.
The last game of the Boston Bruins saw them playing host to the Montreal Canadiens who with a win could have taken the lead in the Northeast Division. However, Boston Bruins playing at the TD Garden were ready for the challenge.
Boston Bruins won the game 8-6 in the game which turned out to be one of the most intense in the NHL history.
"As players, we all had fun in tonight's game," Milan Lucic, who had 2 goals and an assist said. "I think the fans definitely had a lot of fun watching tonight's game. We were able to play with a lot of emotion. We were able to keep our heads on straight
to get that win. That's the most important thing."
This game is expected to be very tight as both teams look to close down the gap on the leaders in their respective Conferences.
