Boston Bruins play host to the Montreal Canadiens
TD Garden will be the venue for the first game of Wednesday. The game will be played between the home team, Boston Bruins up against the Montreal Canadiens. This is will be the fourth out of the six scheduled meetings between the two teams.
The last three games have been won by the Montreal Canadiens 3-1, 4-3 and 3-2 in overtime respectively. Montreal Canadiens have had a phenomenal winning record at the TD Garden as they won all their games their even in the last season. Currently, out of
the last nine games between the two sides, Montreal Canadiens haven’t lost any games winning all of the games in regulation time except the last one.
Montreal Canadiens have been coming up with decent and consistent performances recently and steadily climbed up with Northeast Division. Canadiens can level the two teams in terms of points and with the consistency take the lead from the Bruins. In order
for them to really challenge for the top in the Northeast lead, Canadiens need a regulation time win.
Boston Bruins on other hand face a very big problem after learning that Marc Savard will be missing the remaining part of the season. This is the second time that this has happened during the career after he suffered a concussion this Monday.
Boston Bruins like their opponents for the night have won three of their last four games but are looking to get back on the winning roads after a disappointing loss in their most recent game. The match saw the Boston Bruins coming up with a decent performance
against the San Jose Sharks but their defence allowed two goals in the final period as Sharks won the match 2-0 in the end at the TD Garden.
Boston Bruins aren’t as strong as they were at the start as during the match they couldn’t take advantage of the power plays even though had a man’s advantage mid way through the final period.
"If there's an area that they were better than us it was in the battle. They won more battles than we did and that's where I thought the game was decided," Bruins coach Claude Julien said after the game.
Boston Bruins have played 53 games in the season so far out of which they have won 30 games in regulation time, 7 games in overtime and scored 67 points. Their opponents, Montreal Canadiens have played 54 games in the season out which they have won 30 games
in regulation time, 5 games in overtime and have scored 65 points.
Montreal Canadiens have also won three of their lasts four games. But they are looking in good shape and the stage is all set for the Canadiens to compete for the top spot in the Northeast Division. This is first time this has happened after the 2007-08
season during which the Canadiens scored 104 points and went on to win the Eastern Conference.
The Canadiens are in good shape to take the lead and after the do so, they need to keep up the recent performances for a strong finish. Canadiens also need to improve on the performance in their last game which saw them losing 4-1 in the end against the
New Jersey Devils.
"It was just one of those games where the puck just didn't bounce our way in the first five minutes, but that's hockey," Habs defenseman P.K. Subban said following the defeat. Montreal Canadiens have a strong chance of winning the game but on their day Boston
Bruins can defeat any team that come in their way.
