Boston Bruins plays host to Buffalo Sabres in their sixth and final meeting of the season
The first game on Thursday will be played at the TD Garden as Boston Bruins plays host to Buffalo Sabres.
This will be the sixth and final meeting between the two sides.
Out of the five games that have already taken place during the course of the season between the two teams, Sabres lead the series by 3-2.
The last and most recent meeting between the two sides saw Sabres coming up with a decent performance that saw them winning the game 4-2.
Sabres are currently on a seven-game road trip and this will be their sixth game.
They are currently caught up in a battle for the play-off cut and have managed to come up with three regulation time wins and a point out of the last five games they have played.
Bruins are on the chase for the top spot in the league and from the looks of it they would do it.
In case Sabres qualify and Bruins win the Conference, then this would be the first round game in the play-offs.
Sabres were going through some good times that saw them not losing a game in regulation time since the 20th of February.
However, Tuesday’s game against Pittsburgh Penguins ended the streak as they lost the game 3-1 in the end.
One of the reasons for this might be the fact that their star player and leading scorer, Thomas Vanek, was missing from the team due to illness.
Though Sabres got into the lead, they couldn’t hold on as their vulnerable defence allowed goals which saw them losing the game in the end.
"Every team is desperate for wins right now and we know we're going to be in a battle every game down the stretch," said Rob Niedermayer, who scored Buffalo's lone goal.
Sabres have played 66 games during the course of the season out of which they have won 32 games regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 72 points.
On the other hand, Bruins have also played 66 games out of which they have won 38 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 84 points.
Bruins were also going through a good run but they lost their last game to the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 this past Tuesday.
The game saw Zdeno Chara interfering in a penalty that came as a surprise to everybody.
"I knew we were somewhere close to our bench but obviously that wasn't my intention to push him into the post," said Chara, who was given interference major and a game misconduct with 15.8 seconds left in the period.
The game will be very exciting and entertaining with both teams looking to achieve their goals which they have set for themselves.
