Boston Bruins plays host to Montreal Canadiens in the sixth and final meeting between the two
The first game on Thursday will be played at the TD Garden as Boston Bruins plays host to Montreal Canadiens.
This will be the sixth and final meeting between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the five games that have taken place so far in the season, Canadiens has won four games.
Their most recent meeting on the 8th of March 2011 saw Canadiens winning the game easily by 4-1.
Brian Gionta, captain of Canadiens, is in superb form when it comes to this series as he has managed to score five goals.
Bruin’s Milan Lucic isn’t far behind as he has scored four goals so far.
In the last game between the two sides, Canadiens' rookie, Lars Eller, came up with quite a performance that saw him scoring twice to put Canadiens in a strong position.
However, the injury to Canadiens' forward and then a brilliant goal by Bruins overshadowed Eller’s two brilliant goals.
Bruins has been in superb form and even though Canadiens has come across a lot of success, we consider the two teams in comparison.
Canadiens trail Bruins by three points for the Northeast Division lead with 8 games left to play in the regular season.
Though Canadiens had a chance to take the division lead, it was unable to take advantage against Buffalo Sabres and lost the game by 3-0.
"When you play at this time of the year against a team fighting for a playoff spot, there's an element of desperation", Canadiens' coach, Jacques Martin, said. "On our side, after a decent first period, we weren't able to go to the net with authority or
create chances in front of Miller. I think we made the night easy for him."
Canadiens has played 74 games during the course of the season out which it has won 40 games in regulation time and seven games in overtime to score a total of 87 points.
On the other hand, Bruins has played 72 games out of which it has won 40 games in regulation time and 10 games in overtime to score a total of 90 points.
Bruins was going through some tough times which saw it facing two consecutive losses. However, it was able to win its last game against Detroit Red Wings by 4-1 putting an end to the losing streak.
"We knew the guys felt the pressure of not winning lately", Bruins' coach, Claude Julien, said. "It could have easily been a situation where everybody starts to panic, everybody starts to yell and it doesn't get any better, but we stayed with it as a group
and we found a solution".
