Boston Bruins rebound with 2-1 win over Chicago Blackhawks in Game 2 OT – NHL news
Credit definitely has to go to young goalie, Tuukka Rask, for playing a solid game in net for Boston and allowing the Bruins to bounce back and take Game 2 in overtime from the Chicago Blackhawks with a 2-1 win.
Rask’s unimaginable playing abilities now have both teams tied at 1-1 in the 2013 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Finals.
Another great achievement of the Boston Bruins was the fact that they took down Chicago at the United Center in front of 22,000 plus fans of the opposing side that were looking to celebrate another Stanley Cup championship for the second time since 2010.
Boston also has that blood on their tongue as they took it home in 2011.
With 18 of 34 saves in the first period alone, Rask did more than a good job of keeping Boston strong in the game, making him the factor that will ultimately help in getting Boston another Stanley Cup trophy to take home.
“It looked like they had more guys out there than we did,” Rask said. “They were pouncing on every single puck in front of net, had a lot of chances. We definitely played pretty bad. But, you know, it was good that we were only down by one and regrouped
after that.”
Patrick Sharp scored the opening goal for Chicago and his ninth of the playoffs, which gave the energetic Blackhawks crowd a reason to scream with joy. Chris Kelly fired off his first of the postseason 14:58 into the second, while both teams failed to pot
a single one in the third.
Daniel Paille capitalising of an assist by Tyler Seguin gave Boston the game-winner in OT after nearly 14 minutes had passed.
“We talked about how Tuukka gave us a chance by keeping us in it and we have to play much better in every area,” Boston left wing Milan Lucic said. “Once we simplified our game and got our feet going, that's when things started happening for us. Hopefully
we don't wait a period next game in order to wake up.”
Game 3 is on Monday between the Bruins and Blackhawks, this time in Boston at 8 PM ET.
