Boston Bruins values its roots, keeping Blue-Collar image while reaching new heights –NHL News Update
No matter how much Boston Bruins advance in the current 2011 National Hockey League, (NHL) it always remembers to keep it straight and simple which in the end reflects on its home town and fans that come to watch them.
Instead of all the glamorous events and glitter in the stadium, Bruins focus on connecting with the people that are there for them when it counts the most.
Most of the Boston Bruins’ players are also from a blue-collar background, like Boston’s goaltender, Tim Thomas, and captain, Zdeno Chara, who like to work for their victories instead of fooling around or appearing glamorous.
"That's us, that’s the way we play", Bruins’ centre player, Patrice Bergeron, said."But that doesn't mean we don't have talent, because we're here. We have to make sure we rely on both things but we need to work so we can win some games".
Rather than showing off and grinding the ice, Boston believes in keeping it downright simple and concentrating on winning through skills and technique that ensures a good performance rather than making a show out of scoring and winning.
The team organizes beer parties for its blue-collar attendance instead of high class dinners and events.
They hand out vintage Bruins’ jackets which fans wear to work seven days a week while making a living so that they know their team is just like them and this is possibly why their followers are so emotionally attached with the team.
"We're a blue-collar team that goes out, works hard and earns every inch of the ice that you can get", Bruins’ coach, Claude Julien, said after winning Game 4 against Vancouver Canucks and levelling the series at 2-2.
Boston is missing its attacking forward, Nathan Horton, due to a head injury he sustained in a cynical tackle from Aaron Rome in Game 3. It certainly motivated Boston Bruins even more to win and not let his injury be in vain.
The blue-collar Boston players have returned to Vancouver for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals’ series, which is set to begin on Friday, June 10th, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Instead of changing things with regard to the team and strategy, Bruins want to remain the same and work its way to its first Stanley Cup in over 30 years.
