Boston Bruins win 3-1 against the Calgary Flames
Calgary Flames host the Boston Bruins in the second last game of Tuesday at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Both the teams are in the play-off for now but a win this time out would have helped them cement their position in the table even further.
The inter-conference clash between the two sides saw the Bruins dominating the game early on despite the away disadvantage and scored to lead at the end of the first period. The final period saw both teams scoring goals but it was the Bruins who won the
game 3-1 in the end. Tim Thomas, goal keeper of the Bruins was named the star of the game as he made 28 saves during the course of the game.
The Bruins surprised the Flames involving all their men in the very first attack of the game. This resulted in the Bruins taking the lead with Milan Lucic scoring in the very first minute. The goal was well worked with David Krejci making the assist.
It was just a matter of time after which the Flame’s determination and hard work saw them creating chances for themselves. There were shots on goal every now and then with both teams turning the game into an offensive battle.
The Flames dominated the game in the final stages of the period as they piled up shots after shots but unfortunately weren’t able to find the back of the net. The period ended with the Bruins leading 1-0 as they made 7 goal attempts in the period while the
Flames made 13 goal attempts.
The second period of the game saw both teams making a slow start to the game after which the teams caught pace. There were regular shots on goal and some brilliant pieces of play were observed during the 20 minutes of play.
The teams heated up as the end of the period approached as they fired shots on goal every now and then but they weren’t able to score any goals. This remained the case throughout the period as the period ended goalless with the Bruins leading 1-0. During
the period, the Bruins made 10 goal attempts while the Flames made 9 goal attempts.
The final period of the game saw the Bruins making a great start that resulted in them doubling the lead with a goal in the 6th minute which was scored by Brad Marchand from a decent flick shot.
Though the Flames also got in with a few shots on goal but they couldn’t score to keep hopes of comeback alive. With the fans urging the Flames to attack, the finally opened their account with an 18th minute power play goal scored by Curtis Glencross.
However, the Bruins sealed the win as they scored through Milan Lucic once again from a brilliant flick shot. The Bruins were stronger of the two teams as they period neared its end but didn’t score any further goals and won the game 3-1 in the end. The
final period saw the Flames making 7 goal attempts while the Bruins made 12 goal attempts.
