Boston Bruins wins 1-0 to win the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning and move on to the Stanley Cup Finals
The seventh and final game of the Eastern Conference Finals was played at the TD Garden this Friday, May 27th, that witnessed Boston Bruins winning 1-0 against Tampa Bay Lightning.
The series was level on 3-3 and a win for either of the teams would have put them into the Stanley Cup Finals against Vancouver Canucks.
The game kicked off with both teams coming up with shots on goal but none of the shots found the back of the net. Bruins got stronger with the passage of time and bagged more shots on goal but unfortunately couldn’t score any goals.
A similar trend was followed in the second period and the scores were still 0-0 at the end of the period.
The final period saw a change in fortunes for Bruins, who scored a goal to win the game 1-0 in the end. Nathan Horton was named the star of the game for scoring the game winning goal.
There were a couple of shots on goal at the start of the game by both teams, but Bruins was able to get ahead in terms of shots on goal at the end of the first period. There were scoring chances for both the teams but no goals were scored.
The period ended with the scores level on 0-0 with Lightning making nine shots on goal while Bruins made 15 goal attempts in the period.
The second period kicked off in a similar fashion but Bruins was able to edge out ahead of Lightning once again. Some brilliant plays were seen throughout the period but unfortunately none of the shots found the back of the net.
Play-making and defence were the main areas under question ahead of the game but both teams showed that they learned from their earlier mistakes.
Nevertheless, there were no goals during the course of the period as the teams went into the break with the scores level on 0-0.
Bruins was able to capitalise on the home advantage as they came out strong in the final period. With the brilliance in passing and attacking, it was able to score a goal in the 13th minute through Nathan Horton from a brilliant tip in shot.
The period and the game ended with the Bruins leading 1-0 as they made nine shots on goal while Lightning made seven shots on goal.
Resultantly, Bruins managed to make their way into the Stanley Cup Finals where they will be facing Vancouver Canucks.
