Boston Bruins wins 3-2 against Columbus Blue Jackets after a shootout following a goalless overtime

The third game of Tuesday was played at the Nationwide Arena as the home team, Columbus Blue Jackets, played host to Boston Bruins.
Blue Jackets were looking to score important points as they were in the hunt for a playoff spot while Bruins were looking to win the game and continuing their surge to the top of the table.
Blue Jackets scored the opening and lone goal of the first period but Bruins scored in the second period to level the scores.
Bruins and the Blue Jackets both scored goals in the final period.
The scores at the end of the regulation time were level on 2-2, so the game went into overtime but no goals were scored there.
The game then went into a shootout where Bruins emerged as winners of the game.
Tuukka Rask, goalkeeper of Bruins, was named the star of the game as he made 34 saves during the course of the game.
Both teams made a steady start to the game which saw them coming up with decent plays and shots on goal. There were several chances for both teams to score and get into the lead.
Unfortunately this didn’t happen during the early stages of the game. The passing and shooting of both teams got better and better with the passage of time.
As the period neared its end, both teams started to attack frequently and it was not until the final minute that we saw the first goal.
The goal was scored by Grant Clitsome's powerful strike that put Blue Jackets in the lead. There were a couple of more shots on goal as the period neared its end.
The teams went into the break with Blue Jackets leading 1-0 as they made 12 shots on goal during the period while Bruins managed to come up with 10 shots on goal.
The second period saw both teams continuing on the same roads as they came up with some decent passing and shooting abilities. Bruins managed to score in the 13th minute through David Krejci's brilliant backhand shot to level the scores.
The period saw Blue Jackets coming up with strong plays and shots on goal but they were unable to find the back of the net.
The period ended with the scores level on 1-1. During the course of the period,  Bruins made 7 shots on goal while Blue Jackets made 11 shots on goal.
The final period saw Blue Jackets making 10 shots on goal while Bruins made 7 shots on goal.
Both teams scored a goal apiece in the final period with Blue Jackets scoring in the 13th minute through Scottie Upshall.
However, Bruins levelled the scores with Rich Peverley scoring in the 15th minute through a flick shot.
The game went into overtime as the scores were level on 2-2. There were no goals in overtime but Bruins managed to win the game after the shootout with the scores on 3-2.
