Boston Celtics – A team to watch out next NBA season – Part 2
The Celtics also added shooting guard Courtney Lee in a three team sign and trade with the Houston Rockets. Lee averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists for the Rockets last season, and shot 43.3 percent from the field
and 40.1 percent from three point range. The duo of Terry and Lee will add depth to the Celtics back court, and cover up the loss of Allen’s shooting.
Apart from Lee and Terry, the Celtics will have Jeff Green in the line up for next season. Green impressed the Celtics coaching staff with his hustle play, but did not play for majority of last season after he was diagnosed with
a heart condition. He worked hard all season to rehab and get back into playing shape, and the Celtics re-signed him to the team earlier in the month.
Green can take a lot of load off Paul Pierce, who seemed fatigued at time last season. It will allow Pierce to play more freely, knowing that there is a more than decent player to back him up.
Chris Wilcox will also make a comeback into the side next season. He also suffered from a heart condition last season, but is now available to back up KG in the front court. And he will not be alone.
The Celtics drafted two big men in Jared Sullinger and Fab Melo this June and both have them have the ability to become decent players. Plus, they are lucky to get a coach like Doc Rivers.
And we cannot forget that the Celtics have one of the best point guards in the league in Rajon Rondo. He has continued to show progress season after season, and has emerged as the new leader of the Celtics team. Rondo is young
and has many seasons ahead of him.
With him in the driving seat and a strong back court to play with, the Celtics seem better than they did last season when Allen struggled to get going and Avery Bradley got injured late.
Garnett may be not the same young player he was years ago, but he is still playing with a lot of heart and putting up consistent numbers.
With that kind of stay presence as well as a strong bench this season, the Celtics seem to have upgraded on the roster and are ready to try their new mix out when the season opens on October 30th.
