Boston Celtics Coach Doc Rivers reacts to the 4th game loss - NBA Update
After winning the game 3 of semi-finals against Philadelphia 76ers, coach Doc Rivers said that they cannot entertain the thoughts of relaxing. They will have to work more hard and push Sixers harder in the game 4th.
His team did the exact opposite they went ice cold after pulling a lead of 46-31 in the 1st half. As a result Sixers stroked a balance attack to equalize the series 2-2 with a 92-83 victory.
This simply frustrated the coach Doc Rivers. He took it down to the players who succumbed to Sixers offense.
"I thought they came out and became more physical, and I thought we got into that instead of playing basketball," said Rivers. "I thought in the first half the execution was beautiful. We did all the right things. In the second
half we just didn't do it."
Sixers came out of the half time more aggressive and C’s lost their composure. Coach said that it is justified on Philadelphia end they were supposed to stop us from getting the 4th game. They were supposed to be physical.
That was the point where professionalism counts. Greens were trained on these lines and they had a well thought plan to cap Sixers offense. They deviated from it and lost the game.
"Everything we did was the prescription that you don't do," said Rivers. "We took it away from ourselves."
C’s way more experienced succumbed to team half of their age. Late in the fourth they had a window to strike, as Rajon Rondo tied the game at 83. But their defence was too porous to deflect Andre Iguodala.
He came up with a layup followed by a triple at the death to push his team out of the stalemate with an 88-83 lead. In the next 37 seconds Greens couldn’t strike a single shot. That allowed Sixers to bank the game.
On the contrary Sixers coach Doug Collins was the happiest man alive. He was simply all praise for his team.
"Our guys are pretty amazing," said Collins. "They really, really are."
With only 37.8% shooting from the floor Sixers managed to surpass C’s. Perhaps Greens undermined their capability, something that they will have to look out for in the 5th game.
