Boston Celtics Glen Davis to take part in the Baton Rouge Pro-Am Classic competition – NBA News
On one hand, Boston Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley and centre Jermaine O’Neal are gearing up to take part in the most talked about Impact Basketball Competitive Training Series, also famously known as the “Lockout League”,
while on the other side C’s free agent Glen Davis is going to play at an improbable place, one which no body was expecting.
Davis, who had spent almost four seasons with the C’s now, will take part in the Baton Rouge Pro-Am Classic competition that will last for two days, Saturday and Sunday this week. Fans will be charged from $5 to $15 on tickets
and the profit from this tournament will be donated to the BRCC men’s and women’s basketball programs.
The tournament is programmed to start off at 9 a.m. and will be played in the Baton Rouge Community College campus.
Big Baby is going to represent Louisiana State University alumni that also features other National Basketball Association players like Marcus Thornton, who is a restricted free agent this summer, Minnesota Timberwolves Anthony
Randolph and NBA Development League team Utah Flash’s Ronald Dupree.
The contest will also include a swarm of other skilful players from the NBA. Like Stephen Jackson of Milwaukee Bucks, O.J. Mayo and Zach Randolph from Memphis Grizzlies and a former NBA All-Star Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway can also
be among the possible players to participate in the competition.
Getting engaged in this tournament doesn’t mean that Davis is not among the probables of the Impact Basketball Competitive Training Series. The Baton Rouge Pro-Am Classic competition will end one day before the Impact Basketball
series starts, therefore Davis will have enough time to catch a ride to Las Vegas.
Besides, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo, Davis had also practiced at Joe Abunassar’s facility (Impact Basketball) over the years, so there is high possibility that Glen may take part in the two week long competition
that will follow almost 99 percent rules of NBA, except each quarter will be of 10 minutes.
40 NBA players have committed to partake in the Impact Basketball series and long time trainer Abunassar is still looking to drag some more. This tournament may not match the intensity of an NBA game, but it definitely provides
an opportunity to the NBA players to play against each other for the first time after lockout.
Davis, who had achieved the best scoring average of his career during a single season (11.7 points per game) with the C’s in the preceding season, would definitely add more spark to the Baton Rouge Pro-Am Classic contest with his
presence.
However, there are also some players, who have decided to take part in exhibition games alongside the highly competitive tournament in Las Vegas. The list includes Pierce and Rondo, who will play in different exhibition games on
September 24.
