Boston Celtics Paul Pierce and Los Angeles Clippers Chris Paul nominated as players of the week  – NBA Update
Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce and Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul have been nominated Eastern and Western Conference players of this week respectively. The said honour was bestowed upon them after being judged in the
games played between Monday March 26th and Sunday, April the 1st.
Greens forward Pierce averaged 25 points, 8 rebounds and 2.5 assists, helping C’s to win all 4 games during the stretch. Paul Pierce entered the week with a dash as he tallied his season high 36 points in the 102-95 victory against
Charlotte Bobcats on March 26th. He also had 10 rebounds in the game and was in high spirits after displaying an aggressive show.
"I wanted to be aggressive and just saw lanes tonight and I just wanted to mix it up between driving to the hole and hitting jump shots," Pierce said. "My teammates set me up with a lot of down screens and pick-and-rolls that enabled
me to get into the lane."
He also concluded the week in style as he paced Boston with a team high 23 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in a monumental 91-72 victory over Miami Heat on April 1st. That was Miami's worst loss of the season so far.
His steaming performances helped Boston to climb up on the top spot in Atlantic Division . Overall Greens are on the 4th spot in Eastern Conference and the veteran is a guaranteed catalyst for their upcoming endeavours.
On the other hand, Chris Paul made history by averaging 21.5 points and 11.3 assists per game, helping Clippers to stand unbeatable in all 4 matches this past week. His shining moment came in the game against Utah Jazz on March
31st when Clippers trounced Jazz, 105-96. Paul marshalled his team with 26 points and 6 assists in that game.
He broke the franchise assists record for a month last week. Paul collected 185 in March and surpassed 1983 San Diego Clippers’ Norm Nixon, who was unbeatable till that night with 179 assists record in a month.
Paul modestly accepted that and showed his desire to perform better for his team after the game.
"It ain't a huge milestone," Paul said. "You've got to strive for more than that. Every win now is crucial. We got to expect to win. The mindset is changing and that's a good thing."
The 26 years old point guard started the week with 25 points and 10 assists in a 97-85 victory against his former team, New Orleans Hornets on March 26th. This was not all as he also dished out his season best 15 assists
against Phoenix Suns on March 28.
He then collected 15 points and 5 boards in Clippers, 103-86 victory over Suns.
