Boston Celtics are hopeful of keeping their old band together for the coming season along with some major improvements to their roster
Boston Celtics is one team in NBA who do not want to fade away as one of the strongest powerhouses in the league. Despite their recent struggles to the top of the ladder, the desire to return back to supremacy still remains.
They have already shown desire to keep their championship winning team together, more prominently the Big Three and with some new recruits on the way, the Celtics are moving towards a promising direction.
After the recent re-signing of Kevin Garnett, they do have a chance to come back as one of the top contenders next season.
Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce are also there and the only thing standing in their way is the confirmation from Ray Allen. But that hasn’t stopped general manager Danny Ainge from making some improvements to the roster.
The Celtics have reportedly agreed to a three year deal with free agent Jason Terry who can instantly blend into this unit as a role player. Boston have also agreed to re-sign Brandon Bass on a three year deal and by bringing him
back, the C`s will get their hands on their third best scorer from last season who averaged 12.5 points per game.
The confirmation of both these deals is still pending as an official announcement cannot be made until July 11th when NBA`s trade moratorium period comes to an end and teams are allowed to freely explore the transfer
market.
By bringing in Terry, a former Sixth Man of the Year, Boston can boost the bench scoring, something which was nearly non-existent last season, especially during the playoffs. This does create a bit dilemma for the Celtics in their
desire to bring back Allen. Doc Rivers has hinted that Avery Bradley will be his starter at the shooting guard position and with Terry as his backup, Allen’s role becomes shaky.
Boston though are still hopeful of bringing back their sharp-shooter. The only team that stands in their way are the Miami Heat. The current NBA champions are offering nearly half of what the C’s will give to Allen, but the lure
of a stronger team might just take him to the South Beach.
