Boston Celtics crush the Toronto Raptors 100 – 64 – NBA Recap
On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics buried Toronto Raptors with an avalanche at the TD Garden, winning their encounter with an emphatic 100-64 margin.
The Celtics, who are on 2 game winning streak, with 11 victories in total, were always expected to overcome the Raptors, but perhaps not in such a devastating fashion.
Even though Boston played just last night, their energy levels seemed terrific as they scored a minimum of 20 points in each quarter. On the other hand, the Raptors, who were always trailing, had a best quarter score of just 19.
Five of the players from Boston hit double figures. Paul Pierce scored 17 points and made 8 assists while Ray Allen and Brandon Bass added 12 points each. Rookie JaJuan Johnson and Avery Bradley also scored 11 points and paved
the path towards a glorious victory.
Jerryd Bayless scored 14 points, the highest in the team, as the Raptors could hardly keep up with the competition and only Ed Davis recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and 10 points.
The game started off at a high pace for Boston as they went 12 – 0 to open the first quarter. They were leading by 13 points at the end of 1st quarter; Boston 29 and Raptors 16.
Not much changed for the Raptors in the following quarter as the Celtics stretched their lead to 57-35, however for the Celtics this quarter was more of a bonus practice time they induced the reserves in that time.
Allen encouraged the reserves to play and he said that:
"Go out there and really play as though the score is 0-0. You guys make us better. You have an opportunity to prove to Coach that you can get more minutes”.
The third quarter was signified with Raptors inability to score as they even couldn’t make any attempt. They were simply too inferior to the Celtics and the score was 77 – 49 to Boston.
All five of the Boston starters sat off the entire fourth quarter, letting the reserves finish off Raptors and they did a pretty job.
The ignominious defeat to Raptors came as the final score stood at Boston 100 and Celtics 64.
Boston’s performance was complete and they dominated in almost every department. They shot 83 percent from the free throw line while the Raptors could hardly follow with 44.4 percent. They also finished with a season highest number
of 30 assists.
Dwane Casey, Raptors coach, pragmatically advised his team as:
“You take it, you learn from it, and you build from it. You never want to feel that again because when teams in this league have an opportunity to step on your neck, they will do it. That's what Boston did, and that's what veterans’
teams are going to do."
This might be conveniently graded as an easy win for Celtics, but their abilities will be tested in the upcoming game against New York Knicks.
