Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley feels he is ahead of schedule in his rehab – NBA Update
Boston Celtics might have lost Ray Allen to Miami Heat in the off season, but they certainly have a lot of depth at the wings.
What’s good for them is that Avery Bradley, the second year shooting guard, who replaced Allen in the starting lineup last season is on his way back with a quick recovery;
"I didn't think I would be feeling this good right now," An optimistic Bradley said while talking to A. Sherrod Blakely of CSNNE.com recently. "Right now, I feel good. I started conditioning today, started lifting with the strength
coach today. I feel like I'm moving forward the way I'm supposed to."
Bradley was a revelation last season, when the Celtics were really pushed to the limit due to injury issues. The guard was introduced in the starting lineup when Allen was ruled out due to ankle issues and such was the impact which
Bradley made in that span that even after the veteran got fit, he could never find his spot in the starting five.
Bradley formed an effective back court partnership with Rajon Rondo, and was especially solid in the D. However disaster struck when he injured his left shoulder and had to undergo a surgery which effectively ruled him out of the
last part of the regular season and the entire playoffs. The matters got worse when the player had to be operated on the other shoulder as well and it is expected that he will not be able to make a return before late December.
With Bradley injured and Allen gone, the Celtics took some drastic step to shore up their back court, signing up Jason Terry and Courtney Lee. The latter is expected to start at two for the C’s come next season, whereas Terry will
continue to be an effective sixth man. Whether Bradley will be able to take his position back when he returns to the team depends upon how well Lee plays in his absence, but the Greens do have a lot of muscle in the back court.
That could be very helpful when playing against their fiercest rivals, the Miami Heat, who are perhaps the deepest team when it comes to possessing sharp shooters.
