Boston Celtics leading the Philadelphia 76ers 36-33: Game 6 Half Time Report - NBA Playoffs 2012
After a bumpy start in the first quarter of the sixth game of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, the Boston Celtics rallied back to attain a 3 point lead at the halfway stage with the score being 36-33.
Boston were trailing by three after the first quarter, in which they shot the ball only 30% from the field.
The C`s slightly upped the ante in the second quarter and increased their conversion rate to 31.7% from the field. While doing their work on the offensive end, they were also able to hold up on the defensive side. After allowing
the Sixers to shoot the ball above 50% from the field in the first period, they only allowed the Sixers to make the next 5 out of the 18 attempts from the floor, bringing down their percentage to near 40 percent.
Pau Pierce managed 11 points till the break on a 3-of-5 shooting. Kevin Garnett, after a slow start to the game, started to get going in the second period to manage a total of 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Brandon Bass, Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen failed to score in the second quarter of the game. Rondo, who did not have a single assist after the first quarter, however managed 3 assists in the second, to help his team's cause as the
Celtics aim to wrap up the series in Philadelphia.
For the Sixers, Jrue Holiday led the charge with 8 points. Evan Turner chipped in with 7 points while Elton Brand could only manage 1 point in the second period.
Celtics were dominant on the glass till the break and hauled down 25 rebounds as compared to 21 by the Sixers. They also held the advantage on the offensive glass with 6 rebounds in comparison to Philadelphia`s 3.
Boston were immaculate in their conversion from the free throw line, knocking down all 9 attempts whereas the Sixers were unable to hold their nerve from the stripe, having managed 10 tries while only converting 5 of them.
The free throw shooting was the only thing keeping the cold shooting C’s in the game till the break.
