Boston Celtics point guard Avery Bradley signs one year deal with Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem: NBA News
With the NBA season destined to be cut short due to the labour dispute, more players will now be looking to head overseas in an attempt to continue playing professional basketball and also to earn some money.
The latest NBA player to head to a foreign team is Boston Celtics’ Avery Bradley. The young point guard has signed a one year deal with an Israeli team Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem.
Bradley’s agent Mitchell Butler of the Lagardère Unlimited recently revealed the news. According to Butler, Bradley’s deal includes an opt-out clause that will enable him to return to the C’s, whenever a deal is reach between the
player’s union and franchise owners on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The worth of the one year contract, however, was not unveiled.
The Israeli league is schedule to kick off from October 17, 2011. For now, Hapoel Migdal are taking part in exhibition games and Bradley will join the team on immediate basis in order to get ready for the competition in time.
The Israeli league is considered as one of the most competitive circuits at the European level and with this opportunity Bradley has a good opportunity to get back into shape and ready himself for the next NBA season, whenever
it starts.
Avery didn't have a normal NBA season last time. Due to his injuries, he missed the entire training camps and the preseason stretch. After recovering from the injury, Bradley played 30 games in total from the Celtics, in which
he didn’t get enough minutes to show the full extent of his skills.
With these events already cancelled this year, Bradley needed the stint. Bradley’s agent added that the Israeli deal materialized after he was given a go ahead by Bradley to start looking for foreign opportunities. Bradley was
badly in need of playing some competitive basketball after losing more than half of the preceding season.
During the lockout so far, Bradley has spent most of his time working out in the Impact Basketball, a facility near Las Vegas. The 20 year old, also took part in the “Lockout League” organized along with some 40 NBA players.
