Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has no interest in being part of the Olympics – NBA Update
Rajon Rondo’s name was not in the roster of the US Basketball for the 2012 London Olympics, and he doesn’t have any remorse about it.
The Boston Celtics point guard revealed that before taking on the Miami Heat yesterday night. Greens won the game 115-107 and the point guard dished out 15 assists, collecting 10 or more assists in consecutive
18th game.
“I'm not focusing at all on the Olympics. At all," He said
The Boston swingman who won a gold medal with the Americans in the 2000 Sydney Olympics said that he loves the summer and was never planning to be a part of USA team. He completely ruled out the possibility to
play in Olympics in the future. He is 26 currently and could have been available for the games in 2016 and 2020.
"No, I don't," he said. "I just don't… Wondering why? I love my summers. I'll leave it at that."
His name echoed after the suspension of Chauncey Billups due to torn Achilles tendon, but he put the rumours to bed by declaring that he never spoke to the USA basketball officials. Apart from Billups, Derrick
Rose, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul and Deron Williams were selected as point guards for the Olympic team.
Rondo has a bit of a bad history as far as the Olympics are concerned. He had left the 2010 Olympic team and declared homesickness as a reason behind his departure.

Being an NBA player is like being a commodity and one has a limited time frame to earn it all, fame and money. Rondo knows that he will not be getting any younger so it is a prudent decision on his end. By staying
at home Rondo can condition his body according to his will as he will not have to be the part of the hectic training camps. The gold medal game, one for which the Americans are the favourites, is scheduled for August 12, and with the NBA training camps staring
in September, there won’t be much time for the players to rest.
And then there is the issue of the player not being paid for their Olympic services. Ray Allen, Rondo’s team-mate at the Celtics, raised the issue and tonight Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat echoed the same feelings.
