Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo suspended for two games - NBA Update
Elite basketball players often get frustrated when things are not going their way and there are some who don’t hesitate expressing their dissatisfaction inside the court.
Boston Celtics star point guard Rajon Rondo did the same thing on Sunday in a game against the Detroit Pistons and he has been well served for his action.
During the third quarter, Rondo lost his temper, after the game official Sean Wright kept denying his foul calls. Agitated by the in-action, he threw the ball at Sean. The act of agression ensured that he was immediately ejected
from the game. However, the matter did not end there and Rondo has been handed a two game suspension.
"You're always disappointed when that happens," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers commented on the issue. "You should never put yourself in front of the team. But it's an emotional game. We can all agree that it was a pretty bad foul
and a clear foul that wasn't called. At the time, we were getting our butts kicked and the frustration was high and it's a human game. I can guarantee you five seconds, 30 seconds after it happened, I guarantee you Rondo wished he could take it back."
Rivers claimed that he did not see what actually happened inside the court, but didn't question the officials for ejecting Rondo. Rajon's absence due to suspension has already caused Celtics a loss against the Dallas Mavericks
on Monday night and the team would definitely miss him in their next outing against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The fact that Kevin Garnett might not be available for the next game due to his family commitments make Rondo’s suspension more worry some for the C's, who have on a tail spin off late. Rondo is the backbone of the Celtics lineup
and has already produced two consecutive 30 plus tallies this season.
In a game against Chicago Bulls last week, Rondo completed his 9th career triple-double by scoring 32 points, grabbing 10 boards and dishing out 15 assists, which helped the Celtics in edging past the Bulls.
Celtics have lost five out of their last six games though and without their play maker, the things will only get more desperate for them.
