Boston Celtics push the New York Knicks down to 2nd straight loss, 106-103
NBA: On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks went through a playoff dry when they took on each other at the T.D. Garden for the last time in the regular season. The season finale was however not as sensational
as it could have been, as Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Boston’s starting lineup preferred rest than playing.
Despite the absence of star cast on both sides of the court, the result remained the same as the Celtics took the game 112-102, sweeping the four game season series in the process. This was Knicks’ second defeat in a row.
The C’s were led by the phenomenal Avery Bradley, who scored 20 points off the bench and finished on a 10-for-16 shooting from the field in 26 plus minutes. The player also made two steals in the victory.
The player could not contain his excitement after the game and exclaimed, "I felt good. I mean we've been practicing a lot and just going up against Rondo every single day, and we go hard in practice. Those guys just got me so
much better from the beginning of the year to now."
Glen Davis contributed 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to go along with three assists in 26 plus minutes of action.
Landry Fields came forward to lift the Knicks with 16 points along with seven boards. He also canned two three-pointers in the loss. Amar’e Stoudemire, who came back after missing two games due to a sprained ankle, chipped in 14
points. New York’s coach Mike D’ Antoni was glad to have Stoudemire back after the injury and said, “I'm really glad we got him twenty minutes, that worked out, I was holding my breath the whole time but it was good. He said he felt well, and it's a good start."
The Boston Celtics had eight players in action and six of those players contributed in double digits. None of the teams had players scoring less than five points and every player contributed minimum five points in the game. The
game proved to be a dress rehearsal for the long playoff week that awaits both the Knicks and the Celtics. The two teams will be playing against each other throughout the next week, starting Sunday through to Friday.
