Boston Celtics reunite former Purdue Boilermakers stars JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore – NBA News
As the NBA draft unfolded, headlines were made with almost each pick; some gossipy, some intriguing, some astonishing and some just mere disappointments. However, amongst all that hoopla, one thing that stood apart was the unison of former Purdue Boilermakers stars  JaJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore. The duo made way to the Boston Celtics.
Johnson, who is a forward and guard Moore were more than happy expressing their feelings after being added to the same team’s camp, again. They have been together for the past four years and are about to begin their transition from college years into professional NBA life, at Boston. Moore came in the direct way as the No. 55th pick by the Celtics while Johnson, pick No. 27, was traded on draft night that included sending Marshon Brooks, drafted at No. 25, over to the San Antonio Spurs.
"I was really excited, just to have somebody you're familiar with, you're comfortable with go through this process with you, makes things a lot more easier for you," Johnson said.
Moore added, "It's definitely exciting that we got chosen by the same team; definitely didn't notice this was going to happen (in advance). We're both excited, and can't wait to start playing."
Both rookies have proven in the past that they are hard working and eager to learn more to improve. As freshmen, Johnson and Moore started off averaging 5.4 points, grabbing 3.1 rebounds and 12.9 points with 3.9 rebounds respectively. However, in the last season, Johnson improved to 20.5 points and 8.6 rebounds while Moore raced to 18 points, 5.1 rebounds with assist average of 3.2.
JaJuan Johnson seems likely to be the one making an impact at Boston. Having been picked in the first round, he gets a guaranteed two-year contract. Expected as the Celtics’ next power forward, Johnson has the chance to mature his game in the company of one of the greatest power forwards and perimeter defender, Kevin Garnett. The sooner he learns and adjusts with the All-Star, the sooner he will make his presence on the court unavoidable.
E’Twaun Moore, on the other hand, has somewhat of a tricky future. Being a second round pick, Moore has not landed himself with a guaranteed contract. Initially, he might find himself in the NBA Development-League for a few seasons and eventually make his way up as a supporting player.
Nevertheless, Moore is an extremely hard working guy who will learn a load in the years to come and you never know, he actually might end up as somewhat of a prominent figure on the floor. At present though, the rookie has to try and be the face of the Maine Red Claws.
