Boston Celtics rout Utah Jazz, 107-102, Ray Allen clinches 25 points
Five of the Celtics’ starters scored in double figures as the Boston Celtics earned a 107-102 victory at Utah on 28 February. Ray Allen had team-high 25 points and went a whopping 5-for-8 from the three-pointer line. Paul Pierce contributed 21 points
and grabbed seven rebounds for the winners. Monday night the Jazz stumbled under a detrimental game set by the Boston Celtics against them. The Jazz was limited to a low 37 per cent shooting in the fourth quarter in their sixth home loss.
Al Jefferson scored game-high 28 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for the losing team. The player has been playing extremely well and kept the game rolling under his feet as he went 11-for-21 from the field and made 6-of-7 free throws.
Jazz’s Devin Harris scored 19 points and also dished out five assists going 6-for-7 from the foul line. Andrei Kirilenko did the best he could to keep team Jazz afloat and went 6-for-8 from the free throw line scoring 18 points in the loss.
Utah Jazz took a leap from the painted area as they pulled out 54 points in the paint whereas let the Celtics pass with just 42.
The Celtics coach Doc Rivers was satisfied with the win and was later quoted as saying, "We closed out the game pretty well, but we want to be more good than lucky. I thought even though we made shots, it was off of broken plays where our execution
was not where it's usually at."
The Celtics went 7-for-15 from the long range whereas let the Utah Jazz pass with just 1-for-7, a meagre 14.3 per cent from the deep.
The Celtics gained the lead 95-94, thanks to Glen Davis’s free throw clinched at the 3:44 mark in the final frame. Boston did not let Utah take hold of the next two shots that came their way and Pierce went ahead at that point to take Boston to an
even bigger lead with his fifth 3-pointer. This helped the Celtics go 98-94 over Utah. Whenever the Utah Jazz tried to chase the Celtics closer after that, one of the Celtics would jump ahead and clinch a shot to take Boston ahead and this continued until
they finally conquered the game.
The Boston Celtics finally finished their road trip against Western Conference’s counterparts and recorded a 3-1 trip. Allen seemed very happy about the road trip and said that it was a satisfying trip for them. The player was later quoted as saying,
“There's always opportunity for when complacency settles in for the last game of the road trip and I think right now we're satisfied that we ran through to the finish line and finished this trip off."
Allen has been continuously adding fuel to the Celtics’ games and has been playing tremendously from the three-pointer zone. On the other hand, Jazz’s newly acquired stars Harris and Derrick Favors were on an on set game for Utah. Harris pinned 19
points and dished out five assists going 6-for-11 from the field and 6-for-7 from the foul line. Favors added nine points and went 4-for-5 from the field.
Davis recorded a lowly 2-for-6 shooting from the field. C.J. Miles was no better for Utah. The player finished with a 1-for-6 shooting from the field sliding down along with Gordon Hayward, who managed a 1-for-5 shooting.
