Boston Celtics run riot over the Atlanta Hawks 101-79 in Game 4 - NBA Playoffs 2012 Recap
On Sunday night at the TD Garden, Boston Celtics came out scorching hot in Game 4 to run riot over the Atlanta Hawks with a score of 101-79 and attain an assertive 3-1 lead in this first round series of the playoffs.
Led by Rajon Rondo`s exploits on the offensive end, a capacity crowd of 18624 was treated with an spectacular shooting display by the home side. Rondo signed off on the night with a double-double of 20 points and 16 points in the ball game.
Pau Pierce was on form on the night as well, he finished the game with 24 points on a 10-13 shooting night. Kevin Garnett added 13 and Brandon Bass contributed 10 points to the score. Ray Allen came off the bench with 12 points while Keyon Dooling also recorded 10 points to his name.
For the Hawks, Josh Smith returned to the Hawks line up after missing the Game 3 loss. He managed to score 15 points on a 5-of-13 shooting night. However the remaining four starters failed to make much of an impression in the game, unable to get more then 9 points individually.
Al Horford was another player returning for the Hawks, He managed to score 12 points on a 6 of 10 shooting night. Jannero Pargo was the third player crossing the double digit mark; with 11 points on relief.
In the first quarter, Boston held an early 13-6 advantage. This set the tone for the C`s in the ball game as they went to prolong their advantage to double figures by the 3:13 mark in the first quarter. After the opening period, the score was 32-19, courtesy of a 5-0 C’s run to close out the first twelve minutes.
The offensive dominance continued on for the Celtics in the second quarter with the Hawks being unable to deal with hot shooting by the home side. In the first six minutes of the frame, Boston outscored the Hawks 19-8 to build up an ample advantage. By the half way mark, Celtics were able to extend their lead to 23 with the score being 64-41.
Boston shot the ball 63.6 % just in the opening half and continued to score at will after the break as well. Boston, were able to prolong their lead to as much as 36 at one point in the third quarter.
However, the Hawks still had some fight left in them, they were able to put together a 17-3 run to cut a good part of the C`s lead.
Rondo put an end to that rally by hitting a triple at the 1:19 mark and Allen followed that up with another long range dagger. This run of offence for the C`s was an 8-0 burst, capped off by a Rondo lay up to lay rest to any kind of hope for Atlanta.
After three quarters, the Greens had managed to record 90 points while holding the Hawks to only 63. This allowed the C`s to ease out in the final quarter and despite getting outscored 16-11 in the frame, the eventual outcome of the game was never in doubt.
