Boston Celtics veteran Kevin Garnett: I would die on court if I had to – NBA Update
The Boston Celtics are arguably the most driven, the most resilient team in the NBA and their spirit is symbolized by the play of star power forward Kevin Garnett. Over the years the Celtics star has made quite a name for himself and will surely go down
as one of the best forwards to grace the game, and perhaps the most determined ever.
He recently confirmed what many believed to be true already; that Garnett would spare no expense to get things done on the court.
“I’d die out here if I had to and that’s real talk.” Garnett said in an interview with SportsRadioInterviews.com
In his heyday, Kevin was a physical specimen, with his long arms, his athletic ability and his unmatched stamina marking him out. As the years have progressed though, the player has become increasingly short of breath, but his mind is as strong as ever.
In the interview, Kevin went on to reveal how he paces his body these days, how he uses all opportunities to give himself a rest before he can charge on. For Garnett, every second counts.
“ I’ve been doing this for a long time and ways where I know how to conserve energy and get ‘em at free throw lines and when guys are shooting free throws, those are valuable seconds for me. When I train in the summer I train for a lack of, and when I say
that, I mean rest.”
He said he takes precautions and takes care of his body. He wants to play the game as long as possible and on as high a level as possible. Therefore, he tends to use his experience and read the game, saving himself bodily strains when possible.
“I program my body to recover as quickly as it can. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’m a cerebral player these days and I know how to buy myself time on pick and rolls and stuff like that, things that you don’t see when you’re in your seat
and it helps me.”
Garnett is the leader of a pack of veteran, gritty players at Boston who have withstood many troubles this season in the NBA to get as far as they have in the playoffs.
