Boston Celtics vs. Sacramento Kings, first half analysis
The Boston Celtics are at the ARCO Arena, Sacramento, playing against their host team, Sacramento Kings.
First quarter
The Boston Celtics entered the game with a tenacious defence. They overpowered the Kings at the beginning of the game, going for a three-pointer at the very start of the clash, to respond to the three-pointer shot by Omri Casspi.
Ray Allen’s three-pointer was followed by Shaquille O’Neal’s rebound. At that instance, Rajon Rondo committed a shooting foul that rounded up two free throws for the Kings.
Semih Udrih took hold of both of the free throws and the scores were tied at 5-all. Allen shot another three-pointer to extend the lead to five points over the opposition on the 9:52 mark.
Boston’s defence was broken after that, as they missed a series of shots and the same thing happened with Sacramento as well. They drew the lead till 19-13 with the help of free throw shooting and a driving layup that came after Rondo stole the ball from
Carl Landry.
The Celtics had a firm grip over the game till the end of the first quarter, moving into the second quarter with a seven-point lead, 27-20.
Second quarter
Both the teams were at a loss to make any shot at the beginning of the second quarter. Glen Davis’s two shots were blocked by the Kings, who in their own stance could not make a shot until 10 minutes left in halftime.
Donte Greene scooped out an alley-oop dunk with an assist from Pooh Jeter, to score 22-27.
Nothing came from either of the teams until Von Wafer committed a shooting foul, providing two free throws to the opposition. Landry’s jumper narrowed the gap to 26-27 and Nate Robinson’s defence kept the Boston Celtics up by three, 29-26.
Two pull-ups by Jeter in a row followed by Greene’s layup edged Sacramento over Boston, taking them to 32-29, outscoring the latter.
Boston’s shield was broken and the Kings produced more shots in the disposition. The Celtics gave the Kings seven free throws after that, which the Kings scooped out with ease.
Sacramento Kings sealed a nine-point lead over the Boston Celtics at the end of the first half, 54-45.
