Boston College Eagles’ Montel Harris out up to six weeks
Boston College Eagles star running back Montel Harris could miss up to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery on Monday 22 November.
Harris, who is the leading rusher for the Eagles, received knee surgery on Monday 22 November after tearing his left lateral meniscus in Boston College’s 17-13 win over the Virginia Cavaliers on 20 November.
On Monday, the club was not certain when Harris would be back, but were certain that he would not be able to play in the team’s last game of the regular season against the Syracuse Orange, on Saturday 27 November. However, after meeting with doctors, the
club says that he will need between three and six weeks to recover.
Harris had a tremendous outing against the Cavaliers, recording 114 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, before suffering the injury in the third quarter. The win over Virginia helped Boston College secure their sixth win of the season, making the club bowl
eligible. Unfortunately, the injury could keep Harris out of the team’s bowl appearance.
At this point, it looks as though the Eagles are headed towards a date in either the Independence Bowl or the Music City Bowl, both of which secure automatic bids for Atlantic Coast Conference schools.
The Independence Bowl sees the seventh place ACC side take on the third place Mountain West Conference side, taking place on 27 December. The Music City Bowl sees the fifth ranked ACC side take on the sixth, seventh or eighth ranked Southeastern Conference
side and takes place on 30 December.
Therefore, regardless of which bowl the Eagles take part in, Harris’ participation is likely to be up in the air until the last minute.
So far this season, Harris has managed 1,243 yards and eight touchdowns on 269 attempts.
