Boston College Eagles’ Montel Harris undergoes knee surgery
Boston College Eagles starting running back Montel Harris underwent knee surgery on Monday and will miss the club’s final regular season game against the Syracuse Orange on Saturday 27 November.
Harris was forced to undergo surgery on a torn left lateral meniscus on Monday at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Centre. The university made it clear that he would not be back in time to play against the Orange, but gave no further timeline regarding his recovery
or possible return.
Harris has been a key part of the Eagles' offence this season and, in many games, has been the only working component on a Boston College offence that was derailed by injuries throughout the campaign.
The Eagles have managed to salvage what originally looked like one of the most disappointing seasons in school history. The club got out to a 2-0 start, but was stifled by five straight losses, four of which were against conference opponents. Nevertheless,
the Eagles were able to find their game in week nine with a win over the Clemson Tigers, going on to win their next three match-ups.
The Eagles enjoyed an incredible game from Harris in week 12, leading the club to their sixth win of the season over the Virginia Cavaliers. The victory made Boston College bowl eligible, bringing their record to 6-5, while sitting 4-4 against conference
opponents.
A victory in their week 13 game against the Orange would likely mean a more high-profile bowl bid for the underdog Eagles, but with an offence that struggles even with Harris in the line-up they will need their 31st ranked defence to remain dominant.
So far this season, Harris has tallied 1,243 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, on 269 attempts and has not committed a fumble.
