Boston Red Sox annihilate Cleveland Indians 8-1 – MLB News
Boston Red Sox showed great determination, fighting spirits and mental strength by annihilating the Cleveland Indians 8-1 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, May 24 in Game 2 of their four match
series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
Since the start of 2013 regular season, Boston Red Sox has looked like a team on a mission. After the Red Sox finished at the bottom of the American League East Division standings last table, the management fired
former Manager Bobby Valentine and appointed John Farrell, who has used his resources perfectly this season. Red Sox’s win on Friday was their 29th of the season and it will be interesting to see if they can continue their winning streak
for little longer to replace the New York Yankees at the top of AL East Standings.
A lot of credit should be given to the pitching rotation for creating all sorts of problems for the inform Indians’ batting lineup. Cleveland secured a comfortable win in the opener and with momentum on their
side the Indians were the favourites to take an impassable 2-0 series lead. However, the Red Sox played out of their skins to level up the four match series.
"I had one bad year and needed surgery afterwards," John Lackey said in a post game interview, "It's not like I've never been good before."
"He's not thinking about anything that's taken place in the past, either performance-wise or injury-wise," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "The benefit that he had coming into this year was that spring training
started 16 months post-op for him, so he was a little bit further along in the recovery than maybe the typical Tommy John" patient.

"It's been a lot of fun," Lackey said. "My arm strength is getting better. Endurance is getting better. Things are going on the right track."
Starting pitcher John Lackey had a dream time on the mound as he allowed just two hits and one run in seven solid innings to grab his third win of the season. Lackey struck out eight batters to lay the foundations
of an impressive win for his team.
