Boston Red Sox annihilated by Oakland Athletics 0-13 – MLB News

Boston Red Sox were annihilated by the Oakland Athletics 0-13 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 23 in Game 2 of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
After securing a comfortable win in the series opener, Manager John Farrell and his men were expecting to continue their good work in Game 2 to take an impassable 2-0 series lead but that did not turn out to be the case and Athletics dominated them in almost
all aspects of the game to keep the series alive.
The Athletics will be extremely happy with the outcome of the clash. Despite making a slow start to the contest, the A’s held their nerves to outclass their rivals in finer details of the game.
"That's the perfect guy to have on the mound in games like that," Oakland manager Bob Melvin said, "a guy who's going to throw strikes, doesn't let the conditions affect him and keeps everybody on their toes because they know, potentially, the ball's going
to be in play very quickly.
"It was really cold and every time I'd catch the ball I hurt my hand. It didn't seem to faze (Colon) at all. I guess he's been doing this for a while," A's catcher John Jaso said in a post game interview. "He's a guy who doesn't complain.
Red Sox posted forgettable results last season as they finished at the bottom of the American League East Division but with more depth and variety in their batting and pitching lineup they have a good chance of turning things around. Athletics, on the other
hand, will be looking to continue their good work in the finale to secure an important road series victory.
A’s starting pitcher Bartolo Colon dominated the Red Sox’s batting lineup. Colon pitched with great control and accuracy as he allowed just three hits in seven scoreless innings to lay the foundations of an impressive A’s victory. For the Red Sox, starter
Alfredo Aceves took his first loss of the season after allowing seven hits and eight runs in just over three innings.
