Boston Red Sox beat Los Angeles Angels 10-5 – MLB news
Boston Red Sox continued their marvellous winning streak as they secured a comfortable 10-5 win against the Los Angeles Angels at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Sunday, June 9 in the finale of their three match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball
regular season.
It was an important win for the Red Sox who are placed first on the American League East Division standings table. A lot of credit should be given to the new Manager John Farrell who has used the resources perfectly this year.
The Red Sox posted their worst season last year as they finished at the bottom of the league standings table. However, things have changed dramatically and it will be interesting to see if they can continue their inspired form to make it to the playoffs.
Angels, on the other hand, took another embarrassing series sweep even though they outclassed the Red Sox in the series opener.
“This is a great clubhouse, a great group of guys. It starts with the top and works its way down,” Saltalamacchia said. “Everybody knows their role and everybody knows what approach to take, which makes things easier. We've got a good group of veterans with
a good group of young guys. It's a lot of fun, especially being in first place, but we know we have to focus on tomorrow.”
“We're a team. We're a tight unit and so when guys are getting a bunch of hits, it's a lot of fun in the dugout,” Dempster said.
Starting pitcher Ryan Dempster had a great time on the mound as he allowed just six hits and three runs in six effective innings to claim his fourth win of the year. Relief pitchers Craig Breslow, Koji Uehara, Andrew Miller and Andrew Bailey all made useful
contributions to help the Red Sox hold on to their lead.
Red Sox’s batting lineup has certainly made a big difference since the start of the season. David Ortiz produced another magical performance as he smacked a three run home run to right centre in the third inning. Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit back to back home
runs to ensure the Red Sox emerged victorious.
