Boston Red Sox beaten by Los Angeles Angels 13-14 – MLB Update

Boston Red Sox were overpowered by the Los Angeles Angels 13-14 in a thrilling encounter at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Adrian Gonzalez, Scott Podsednik and Dustin Pedroia provided the Red Sox with an excellent start. Pedroia homered to left in the second inning to stretch Boston’s lead to 6-0. Mike Aviles and Cody Ross also scored crucial runs but their effort did not prove
to be enough.
Starting pitcher Franklin Morales had one of the worst nights of his career. He gave up six runs on six hits in just over two innings.
"I saw the way it bounced off so I assumed it was a home run," Vernon Wells said, "but once I got in [the clubhouse], they told me otherwise, but we'll take it. It was a great game to be a part of. We've come out on the wrong end of a lot of those games
in the last couple of weeks."
"Wild game," Pedroia said. "We need to try and find a way to win these. You felt like whoever was hitting last was going to win. We are playing hard, but we need to find a way to be one run better."
Both teams displayed some top quality hitting skills and it was a pity that one had to lose. Credit should be given to the Red Sox for the way they fought right until the end but it was the Angels who eventually came out on top to secure a rare series sweep
at Fenway Park.
Red Sox are almost out of the playoffs race but they can certainly restore some of their lost pride by ending the season on a strong note and that is exactly what Manager Bobby Valentine will be hoping for. The fans also had great expectations from the Red
Sox but it seems Valentine and company is still learning to perform under pressure. It will be interesting to see if the Red Sox can come up with better tactics in their next series against the Kansas City Royals.
