Boston Red Sox beaten by Los Angeles Angels 3-10 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox continued their poor run as they lost to the Los Angeles Angels 3-10 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California on Wednesday, August 29 in second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Torii Hunter provided Angels with a perfect start with an RBI double to left in the first inning. Albert Pujols, Kendrys Morales, Eric Aybar and Chris Iannetta drove in crucial runs to help Angels stack up a huge total on the board. For the Red Sox, Scott
Podsednik hit a sacrifice fly to left and Dustin Pedroia singled to right in the fifth but their effort was never going to be enough.
Starting pitcher Zach Stewart was hit hard as he gave up ten hits and nine runs in just three innings to take his first loss of the season.
"It's good to go out there and give the team what it needed," Angels’ starter C.J. Wilson. "With the score the way it was, I just told myself I wasn't going to give in to that big inning, and it worked."
"I was just too inconsistent and those hitters are too good to leave that many balls over the plate against," Stewart said. "You never want to have a start like that, but the only thing you can do is turn the page and go from there. You've got to flush those
and go on to the next one."
Angels had the better of their opponents in the series opener as well and they continued the good work in Game 2 to take a decisive 2-0 lead series. Surely, the Angels will be looking to carry on their terrific form in the finale.
Boston, on the other hand, had another forgettable night as they struggled to convert some easy scoring opportunities. Although the Red Sox are out of the season, they can still cheer up their fans by bringing some consistency in their results. It will be
interesting to see if Valentine and company can come up with a better effort in the finale to avoid an embarrassing series sweep.
