Boston Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia shows optimism ahead of 2012 season
The Boston Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia is showing some great optimism ahead of 2012 Major League Baseball season and believes his team is real competitive.
He was talking to the media where he told the reporters that the entire Red Sox roster is ready to play against every team in the league. He explained in detail that every player now knows his responsibility and the Red Sox as a team will grow further. Salty stated that the Red Sox might have lost in the last season failing to qualify for the post-season but the next potential season will be bringing a new beginning for the team.
Salty added, “I think the guys handled it extremely well. I don’t think they’re proud of the way things ended, but they’re not going to look back, they’re ready to move forward. There were some games where we would go five, six extra innings and John Lackey was putting on his cleats because he might have to go in and pitch. Nobody wanted it to end the way it did, but in life, and in baseball, sometimes it happens.”
The Boston Red Sox had a pretty decent 2011 season but little hitches cost them later in the regular season. Going fine at the start of the season from April 1 to September 3, but from that date on-wards, the Red Sox lost 18 of their final 24 games losing the battle to qualify for the post-season.
Salty, whose game has also improved since joining the Red Sox approximately two years ago, gave a detailed overview of his team during his conversation with the media.
In the end, he expressed his inner thoughts and stated that the Red Sox are now preparing hard for the next season and trying to forget the past where they could not even qualify for the next level.
The Red Sox management is also making some rotation changes for 2012 and whenever the season would start in couple of months, the Red Sox will be going full throttle not to repeat those mistakes that ruined their chances to go further in 2011 competition.
