Boston Red Sox could trade Jon Lester – MLB Update
The Boston Red Sox might trade Jon Lester this offseason. Yes, this is a speculation with little authenticity in it from some reliable source which has made many experts surprised as well.
That particular news source has also told the media that the Red Sox are showing great interest in Kansas City Royals’ outfield prospect Wil Myers.
Many say that if this deal happens, the Red Sox will face many issues in the next Major League Baseball season.
At the moment, the Red Sox need some good potential pitchers and Lester is considered one of the most consistent hurlers in the league.
He started his career in 2006 with the Boston Red Sox’s platform and started showing his great performances. Over the past six years, he has been playing with great consistency and showing great skills.
Last season Lester finished with 4.82 ERA along with 9-14 win-loss, 166 strike-outs and 1.38 WHIP. Overall his career has been also very impressive. He is currently carrying 3.76 ERA along with 85-48 win-loss, 1060 strike-outs and 1.31 WHIP.
For over the past six years in the Major League, he performed with great consistency and earned great appreciation from the Boston Red Sox’s officials.
Though he has not mentioned anything in the media regarding his potential trade talks but many think Lester is a fighter and will show resistance on being traded to the Royals.
"I just want to be a baseball player, I was beaten down all that first winter just dealing with cancer, The last thing I wanted to do was come to Spring Training and be asked about it. I just wanted to get away from it," Lester said in the past during the Spring of 2007 on returning to the Boston Red Sox as he was treated for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
He added, “Being immature at the time and not understanding how people viewed me, it took me a few years of settling down, getting married and hearing stories from people, You know, when people have been through the same thing you've been through, you really don't have to say much.”
The Red Sox however, might think again on trading Lester but still there is no confirmation that he will stay in franchise for next season.
