Boston Red Sox crush Miami Marlins 4-1 – MLB Spring Training
Boston Red Sox crushed Miami Marlins 4-1 at the Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida on Saturday, March 24 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Felix Doubront, who is looking to secure a spot on Red Sox’s pitching rotation, pitched with great control and accuracy as he allowed just one run and five hits over six innings. "That's what I was looking for. More than five innings, get ahead in the count,
get outs early, don't go 3-and-2," Bobby Valentine said.
"He kept his composure and pitched well. It was a positive outing," he said. "He's progressed as well as anyone in camp. He came in shape, he stayed in shape."
Austin Kearns scored the only run for Marlins, hitting a home run in the second inning.
"He has opened a lot of people's eyes. I like what I see," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said. "We need a right-handed hitter off the bench. We need a right-handed hitter who can play the outfield. He has been playing pretty good this spring."
The Red Sox made an aggressive start to the game and they kept things really tight right till the end.  Boston’s Manager Bobby Valentine looked extremely satisfied with what he saw from his players during the contest and he aimed to give similar results
in the upcoming games. The Red Sox will be looking to continue their sensational form throughout the season to give themselves a chance to make it to the playoffs.
The fans will also have high expectations from their team. The Red Sox haven’t won the World Series title for a considerable period of time now and it will be exciting to see if they can surprise everyone with World Series triumph in 2012.
The Marlins looked completely out of sorts throughout the contest. Unable to handle the pressure, the Marlins made critical mistakes, which the Red Sox capitalised on. With just seven wins in their 17 spring games this season, it seems the Marlins need to
work hard on their game plan to change the course of their campaign.
