Boston Red Sox crush Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox crushed Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 at the Rogers centre in Toronto, Ontario on Monday, April 9 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball. The Red Sox will be very pleased to earn their first win of the season against the might of the Blue Jays. After losing three games in a row, Boston’s win over Toronto is certainly a positive sign.
Red Sox relief pitcher Alfredo Aceves had something to say to the manager after Boston went 0-3 in their first three regular season games. On Monday night, the pitcher showed what he meant when he said: Keep trusting in us and it will eventually workout.
"He wrote me a little note," Manager Bobby Valentine said. "It talked about trust. I told him I trusted him. He knew he was going to have the ball."
"I just said 'trust,'" Aceves said. "We've still got to trust, you know? It's been like three games and everything was negative. But we stick together and one of those things is trust."
Ryan Sweeney put up a solid show as he hit the go ahead run in Red Sox’ 4-2 win over the inform Blue Jays. The Blue Jays led the score 2-1 at the end of the eighth but the Red Sox held their nerves to rally for three runs in the ninth inning. Showing great determination, fighting spirit and mental toughness, the Red Sox showed just why they are considered as one of the strongest teams in MLB.
Dustin Pedroia played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he drove in the tying run, giving Blue Jays’ closer Sergio Santos his second blown save in just three appearances.
"We had a couple of tough ones in Detroit but we're going to bounce back and play as hard as we can every single night," Pedroia said.
"I'd be booing too," Santos said. "It wasn't pretty."
The Blue Jays will be disappointed at losing their home opener. After making a strong start to the regular season campaign, John Farrell and his men had their party spoiled on Monday night.
