Boston Red Sox declare Triple-A reliever Sandy Rosario off waivers – MLB Update
Boston Reds Sox have declared Minor League player Sandy Rosario off waivers from the Miami Marlins’ 40-man 2013 expected roster. Rosario will be joining the Red Sox for next Major League Baseball season as Marlins claimed Scott Cousins from the Toronto Blue Jays in a three way understanding.
It is very good sign that Red Sox will come up with a new offensive strategy that ensures experience players arrival in the team. Rosario, a relief pitcher, possesses two-year Major League experience. His 2012 campaign has not impressed much as he played most of the time in Miami’s Minor League.
Miami called him in Major League during the regular season where his finished with 18.00 ERA and 2.67 WHIP.
Meanwhile, now from next season onwards, he will be showing his skills in the Red Sox’s roster. Experts believe that Red Sox certainly need some strategic changes in the entire roster at the moment to become relatively a competitive side.
This past regular season, Red Sox certainly played defensive and could not impress with their poor performance. They finished at the bottom in the American League East with 69-93 win-loss along with .426 winning percentage.
Even Toronto Blue Jays showed some consistency in their plays. They finished one spot above the Red Sox with 73 total season wins.
Boston Red Sox management is also thinking to bring an experience manager in the side after Bobby Valentine left them during the regular season.
Some speculations are also coming in the media that the Blue Jays' current manager John Farrell is about to leave the franchise and will likely to join the Red Sox.
Recent comments by the Blue Jays' infielder Omar Vizquel have also sparked tensions between Farrell and Blue Jays.
“It’s part of the inexperience, If you make mistakes and nobody says anything about it — they just let it go — we’re going to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. We have to stand up and say something right after that mistake happened. We have to talk about it at meetings. We have to address it in a big way in the clubhouse,” said Vizquel.
Though the above comments are not directly showing any mistrust on Farrell and his late strategies, but still saying the team sloppy in the field certainly made Farrell unhappy about his future relationship with the organisation as well as with the Blue Jays' players.
