Boston Red Sox defeat Miami Marlins 7-5 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox put up another masterful performance as they beat Miami Marlins 7-5 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 19 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Kelly Shoppach also had a great time on the home plate as he homered to left in the second to help his side take a crucial 4-2 lead. Cody Ross added a solo home run in the fourth and Will Middlebrooks doubled to centre in the sixth to give Boston complete
control of the situation.
The win will be of great importance for the Red Sox who have now improved their record to 34-33. Bobby Valentine and company made the most of available opportunities in a game that was played on quite a competitive note.
"Clay didn't have his great stuff tonight and the offense seemed to sense it," Boston manager Bobby Valentine said. "They were going to do what they had to do to get us enough runs."
"That's the way the year's been going," starting pitcher Clay Buchholz said. "Guys are scoring in the first inning and then keeping it going."
"We come out and score a bunch of runs today, which we've been struggling to do," Marlins’ starting pitcher Mark Buehrle said. "I went back out and gave it right back up. I was frustrated by that."
It will be exciting to see if the Red Sox can maintain their excellent form in their upcoming games to have any chance of making it to the playoffs this season.
Marlins, on the other hand, will be slightly disappointed to end up on the losing side. They will be looking to put things on the right track and take advantage of their home conditions in the next game to reach .500 win percentage.
Logan Morrison provided the Marlins with a perfect start as he homered to left in the first inning to put his side 2-0 ahead but the Red Sox fought back immediately with David Ortiz hitting a mighty two run home run to right in the first inning to level
score.
