Boston Red Sox edged by Toronto Blue Jays 3-4 – MLB Recap
The Boston Red Sox lost to the Toronto Blue Jays 3-4 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, September 9 at Fenway Park in Boston.
"I'm glad that things went all right. My last at-bat was a good at-bat -- a game-winning RBI, I feel pretty special because I have a lot of memorable moments here," said Omar Vizquel.
Boston played defensive from the start of the game and eventually lost it by a one-run deficit.
On the other hand, Blue Jays proved their valour as their pitchers and batters performed beautifully and earned a great victory in the end.
Rajai Davis performed wonderfully and contributed well in his team’s win. He scored two runs and smashed two hits. He batted three times and maintained his slugging percentage at .376.
He performed with tremendous energy and smashed his opposing pitchers with powerful hits.
Anthony Gose also played well for the Blue Jays as he scored one run and smashed two hits on his four at-bats. He remained calm on the plate and maintained his slugging percentage at .330.
Along with batters, the Blue Jays' pitchers also played well and earned a great victory for their team.
Carlos Villanueva pitched six innings and received three runs and seven hits. He retired two and received two homers on his consistent 3.48 ERA.
"I think it's only fitting that as we go through this last stretch of the season, the places that he's played the most in, whether it's here in Boston, Baltimore, he'll be on the field," Toronto manager John Farrell said.
On the other hand, the Red Sox pitchers certainly lost the game for their team. They pitched way-ward and could not save the game against the Blue Jays.
"I just wanted to make sure he believed like I did, that he had enough. He said, 'Guaranteed,' All year long, Clay's been totally honest with me every chance. After eight, he felt great," Boston manager Bobby Valentine said of Buchholz.
Clay Buchholz pitched 8.2 innings and received four runs and seven hits. He could not pitch in the right areas and lost the game for the Red Sox.
