Boston Red Sox flatten Minnesota Twins 11-2 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox flattened Minnesota Twins 11-2 at the Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Tuesday, April 24 in their regular season encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
Attacking their rivals right from the start of the contest, the Red Sox raced to a handsome 3-1 lead in the first inning. The onslaught continued and Boston scored two in the third and two in the fourth to take an impassable 7-1 lead. Dustin Pedroia and
Adrian Gonzalez scored in a perfect ending for the Red Sox.
Starter Josh Beckett will be very pleased with his effort as he allowed just two runs and struck out five in six solid innings. David Ortiz made a useful contribution with the bat, hitting a 400 feet home run towards the right field.
"He was just missing with some pitches and got a little frustrated, possibly, but it really turned up his competitive fluids," Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said. "He wasn't going to be denied the victory. He was terrific."
"I was kind of ... trying to add to the noise just in case any magic words came out it wouldn't necessarily be attributed to Josh," Valentine said. "He was into it. I haven't seen Josh like that. It really seemed like this was a game he really wanted."
The Royals looked in commanding form in second game of their three match series with the Twins, taking advantage of almost every scoring opportunity.
With their win on Tuesday’s eve, the Red Sox improved their regular season win-loss record to 6-10 and they also took a decisive 2-0 lead in the series. Bobby Valentine and his men still have a lot to do to put things back on the right track.
If the Red Sox can complete the series sweep and continue their brilliant form for at least next couple of weeks, they will surely gain the winning momentum, which can prove to be vital for them in later stages of the season.
Twins’ miserable run continued as they took their 13th loss of the season. With just five wins this season, Minnesota has been struggling to deliver the goods on regular basis.
