Boston Red Sox hammer Seattle Mariners 11- 4 – MLB news
Boston Red Sox continued their marvellous winning streak as they hammered the Seattle Mariners 11-4 at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, July 10 in Game 3 of their four match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
The running season has turned out to be a brilliant one for the Red Sox who finished at the bottom of the American League East Division standings table in 2012. A lot of credit should be given to the new manager John Farrell and his men for rising from ashes
this year. Right now, the Red Sox are placed first on the league standings table with an imposing 56-37 record but it will be interesting to see if they can continue the good work throughout this season to make it to the playoffs.
“Wonderful hitters and when I first came up watching those guys,” Ortiz said in a post game interview. “Now for your name to get mentioned next to theirs, it's a wonderful thing.”
“There is nothing that guy does that amazes me. He goes out there every day and is so consistent that you almost expect it. You kind of feel bad whenever he goes 0 for 4 and you're like, `Come on man, are you kidding me?” Boston catcher Jared Saltalamacchia
said. “But that's how good he is and how consistent he's been in his career.”
Red Sox’s starting pitcher Felix Doubront showed the stuff he is capable of as he allowed just five hits and one run in seven innings to grab his sixth win of the season. Striking out six batters, he ensured his side had complete control of the situation.
Relief pitcher Brandon Workman had a terrible time on the mound as he gave up three runs in just two innings of relief but the Red Sox were lucky to walk away win an easy win on Wednesday.
David Ortiz produced a magical performance with the bat as he smacked a two run home run to right in the third inning extend the lead to 4-0. Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia also made useful contribution with the bat.
