Boston Red Sox introduce John Farrell as Manager – MLB Update
According to a leading sports website, John Farrell was introduced as the new Boston Red Sox Manager on Tuesday evening. Farrell and the Red Sox officials also shared a Chinese dinner while having discussions about the managing vacancy in Boston.
Farrell has worked at Fenway Park previously as well. He was the pitching coach for the Red Sox from 2007 to 2010. It is easy to see why he is accepted the Red Sox’s offer openhandedly.
The Red Sox finished at the bottom of the American League East Division standings table the past season. However, General Manager Ben Cherington wants every to move forward from their worst season.
A couple of days after hiring Farrell, the Red Sox introduced him at a news conference. Farrell has replaced Bobby Valentine, who served the Red Sox for just one year. In an interview with a leading sports website, Farrell stated that it was his dream to
work with the Red Sox.
''I will work my butt off to earn their trust, to earn their respect and create an environment in that clubhouse that is just that,'' Farrell said. ''It's a trusting one. It'll be a learning one and, yes, it'll be a competitive one and, hopefully, a very
successful one.''
''I can't speak to what the Red Sox clubhouse was last year,'' Farrell said in a post game interview. ''I think it's important that we communicate consistently to the players, we outline expectations and we have to hold players accountable to what we're
trying to get done.”
Although he had a testing time in Toronto, he is looking optimistic about the upcoming season. Red Sox had to face several challenges last season. However, none of them were as big as dealing with the players’ injuries.
In August, they sent Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett Crawford and Nick Punto to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a blockbuster surprise trade. Farrell has an excellent opportunity to show the world just what he is capable of. It will be interesting to see if he
can take the Red Sox out of slump in his very first season at Fenway Park.
