Boston Red Sox looking to re-sign Ryan Ludwick – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox posted one of their worst seasons last year as they finished at the bottom of the American League East Division standings table. Bobby Valentine was fired as soon as the season ended and former Blue Jays’ Manager John Farrell was appointed
as the new Manager.
This offseason, there are quite a few free agents that will be attractive to the Red Sox, who are looking to strengthen up their pitching and batting line-ups. However, only a handful of those agents might be a match for them. Just because, we will talk
about them here does not mean they are endorsed.
Ludwick hit .275 with 26 home-runs and 80 RBI’s, playing a key role in many Cincinnati Reds’ victories. However, what makes him an asset for the Reds is his personality. He meshes well with everyone in the team. He can also handle the pressure better than
anyone else in the Reds’ batting line-up.
"It was kind of between us, and it got out," Ludwick said. "I'm the kind of guy that doesn't want something to be all about me. I don't want to twist it to where it's Ryan's thing, because it's a team game. When it got out, I was wary, but it's taken off
in a positive way. It's cooled off a little bit, but I guess it was hot enough that Nike made a shirt."
"He meshes well with everyone with his personality, whether it's with an older guy or younger guy," Reds’ right fielder Jay Bruce said.
So far, the Red Sox have not shown any interest in Ryan Ludwick but that does not mean they are ruling out the veteran outfielder. For those who missed the 2012 season, this might be a crazy idea. After all, Ludwick had a forgettable time with the San Diego
Padres in 2010 and then he continued his struggles on the mound with both Padres and the Pittsburgh Pirates in the next season.
However, he bounced back strongly in the last season, showing the stuff he is capable of. Credit should be given to Ludwick for showing excellent fight skills after he made a slow start to the 2012 regular season as well.
