Boston Red Sox lose to Texas Rangers 3-6 at Fenway Park – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox lost to the Texas Rangers 3-6 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, August 7 in second game of their three match series.
Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester had another forgettable outing as he took his tenth loss of the season. After pitching five scoreless innings, Lester lost his way completely to give up six hits and four runs in just over six innings. It will be interesting
to see if he can regroup himself to bounce back from another embarrassing loss.
"It's another heck of a performance. We didn't score the runs and he didn't get the breaks," Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said of Lester in a post game interview. "Couple of curveballs to a couple of left-handers wound up hurting him."
Rangers’ starter Ryan Dempster, on the other hand, pitched with great control and precision to snatch his first win of the year. Dempster allowed just three runs in six plus innings, striking-out six Boston’s batters. Relief pitcher Joe Nathan pitched the
scoreless ninth for his 22nd save.
"Anytime you have a rough one you want to get out there the next day," Dempster after producing a match winning performance on Tuesday. "Those five days take a long time. I think just knowing the lineup a little bit facing these guys. I was able to use the
fastball and had a good split."
Ian Kinsler earned an RBI single to left in the sixth inning to break the deadlock and put Rangers on the board. Josh Hamilton singled to right and Daniel Murphy hit a sacrifice fly hit to left to stretch Texas’ lead to 3-0. Kinsler put immense pressure
on Boston’s starter Lester to take the score 4-0 in the fourth.
Will Middlebrooks connected for a three run home-run against Dempster in the seventh to bring the Red Sox back in the contest but Ron Washington and his men were determined to find winning ways.
Nelson Cruz singled to right in the eighth and Elvis Andrus picked a up single to right in the bottom of the ninth to give the Rangers an incredible victory.
