Boston Red Sox lose to Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox lost to Toronto Blue Jays 7-3 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario on Tuesday, April 10 in second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Toronto’s Kyle Drabek provided his team with an extremely positive, striking out 4 and giving up just one run in his five innings. The Red Sox, on the other hand, were unable to capitalise on their opponents’ unforced errors, which damaged their regular
season record to 1-4. With just one win to their name this season, Boston has a lot of work to do to get things back on track.
"He was commanding the zone," Kevin Youkilis said about Drabek. "He kind of went in and out and knew where the ball was going a little bit more than he used to. He got ahead and stayed ahead."
"He threw a splitter that kind of went away," Youkilis said. "I thought it was going to come back over the plate and it just went away. He made a good pitch."
The Red Sox will be extremely frustrated at the fact they were unable to take a decisive 2-0 lead in the series. Daniel Bard had a horrible time on the mound as he struggled to pitch with control and precision. Allowing five runs and eight hits in five innings
he let the Blue Jays get off to a flying start. Bard had his first loss of the season and he will be looking to work on his throwing technique to bounce back strongly in his next MLB start.
"I feel good about how I threw it," Bard said. "The results obviously stunk, I recognize that and I'm frustrated with it, but I wouldn't change the way I threw."
Michael Bowden had a decent outing, allowing just one run on two hits in two innings but the Red Sox were unable to put enough runs on the board. Yunel Escobar, who batted with .288 average last season, also made a useful contribution with the bat, earning
two runs on two hits. Second baseman Kelly Johnson also drove in a run.
